As chairman and one of the founding members of Durlas Eile Eliogarty Memorial Committee, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to our new website. www.thurlesmemorial.com
The committee was set up in 1999 with the aim of making people more aware of their local and national history; with the added goal, of helping to increase tourism to Thurles.
Our Garden of Remembrance was the first of its kind in Ireland; and has received very favourable comment from visitors from all over the world who have been greatly impressed by their visit.
We have recently launched our booklet, A Historical Walk of Thurles, which contains a complete and concise account of our activities to date. A copy of our booklet can be ordered by contacting me on 353050421651 and 0861528565 or by writing to me at:- 14 Collins Park, Thurles, Co Tipperary, Ireland.( The cost inclusive of postage is €10)
I hope you will enjoy our website; and the committee members and I would be delighted to meet you in the Memorial Garden, should you visit the Thurles area at some future date.
Best wishes.
Johnnie Wort.
